Welcome Letter

Dear Parents:

Welcome to Seven Star School Nutcracker Cast 2017! We are so proud of every single dancer from our littlest Angel to our Sugar Plum Fairy. It is truly inspiring and warms our hearts to see the interest that has grown in participating in our classic Holiday Traditional production. We are thrilled to announce that we have over 177 cast members this year!

Unfortunately, we cannot cast every dancer in the role they would like to be placed in, and often times seeing the castings can be the most difficult challenge for any dancer of any age. In these next few days while you digest the castings please, discuss these thoughts with your children to help them weed through the many emotions they will be feeling:

– Encourage them to be proud of themselves! Being a part of the Nutcracker is an honor. Many dancers would love the opportunity to be perform in a production like this, build lifelong friends and work with different choreographers! This is a great opportunity to do what they love!

– Being a part of this production is truly a group effort. Every person involved in the ballet is a significant piece to our puzzle. Each dancer needs to work together to reach their goal and be successful.

– A placement is what you make of it. The more you put into your dancing and choreography, the more it will shine on stage.

– Our main goal here is to continue to work on technique and performance skills. So, if your child is disappointed, take this experience as a time to learn and grow. There is something to learn from each performance you do, and from each choreographer/instructor you work with. Encourage your child to focus on the learning and the attempt to become a better dancer, and they may be surprised at how much they get out of it.

– Remember, we are all human; some children will jump up and down with excitement, while others may be extremely disappointed. It is important to consider each and everyone’s feelings. All dancers will be expected to show respect to each and every one of their cast members. The knowledge and friendship each student will take away from this experience will last much longer than this year’s production.

Thank you again for all of your hard work. We can’t wait to see you all at rehearsals!! ☺

~ Miss Anita and Miss Nicole
